There are some fishing charters within sixteen miles in the town of Shelter Bay. Shelter Bay Charters shelterbaycharterfishing.com and Kimar’s Charters kimarcharters.com Stannard Rock is the most popular trip and has the most remote lighthouse in North America. The reefs are located ten feet below surface and you can find sixty pound Lake Trout there.

Grand Island is part of Hiawatha Forest. It protects our bay and is a beautiful place to adventure by bike or hiking. You can get there by boat or there is a ferry service during the summer to get across. Call 906-387-2600 for rates and schedule.
Recreation
The city of Munising offers an ice arena, tennis courts, ball diamond, boat launch, marina 906-387-3445, city park, bike path, tot lots, skate boarding park, and a downtown area that has a lot to offer
Just outside of the city limits is a beautiful 18 hole golf course with a bar and restaurant, picturedrocksgolfcourse.com

There are some nice beaches in the area. Sand Point is just down the road and was named one of the top five summer beaches by the weather channel.
There are 17 waterfalls and 10 lighthouses in the nearby area that you can see.
We have many hiking, biking, cross country ski, and snowshoe trails in the surrounding area.
Ice climbing is a popular thing to do in the winter and there are some excellent places in the parks, falls and the Eben Ice Caves is twenty miles away.
Downhill ski areas, in Chatham they have a small hill (16 miles) and Marquette has a very nice place (45 miles) Marquette Mountain.
Other Interests
American Legion has a post in town. There is a historical museum. The local high school has competitive sports teams that are fun to watch. A casino is five miles away and a couple more around an hours drive. Munising has a small airport for individuals planes Hanley Airport, Sawyer International is 35 miles away. Escanaba and Iron Mountain also have an airport and are an hour and two hour drive.
